Well, it is common now, people take a picture use their mobile device. You can see they use the simple hand phone, or they use the their tablet such as the Ipad! The big issue is some people take the picture with Iphone using SLR Lens!! The new trend is they take the picture then add the image filter that make their picture “in-common” ( I will give u the sample in next article). Then they show it in their account such as Facebook or others.

Now, people think that they do not need a P & S to take the picture. Cause they can edit the photo instantly then upload to the web using their mobile device. I think it will make the new competitor of P & S especially for the low end product. So, how the P & S can fight back of this competition? They have to make their camera can do simple editing especially adding the simple filter effect and upload to their personal web easily. It means they can use the LCD be the touchscreen for editing and browsing. So, maybe in the near time, you will find the pocket camera using android inside!

Ant View using Puddle

It is just rainy over in the morning. I can find the puddle every where. The image on the water make puddle just like the mirror. Suuporting by morning light, the shadow is very clear.

Remembering some photos that I’ve seen, it is give me the idea to make this picture. Wow, if you rotate the photo, you can find an alternative angle. It is just like you make this photo from low position, lay on the street.

The End of Year Wish

if you like to make a photo without flash, you will face a difficult condition when it is a low light and it is a moving object (such as you capture your friends in live music on stage). Or you wanna take a shot a landscape but you need to make it in slow speed cause you use big number of aperture (f.8 could be) but you do not bring a tripod, so it will shake your picture. That’s my problem right now. If I rise up the ISO, my camera produce high noise starting iso 400 .

So, one of my first wish is the camera with low noise in high ISO level, and of course the lens that could be set to f.1.4

Making Dramatic Photo in Vacation, Why not?

When we go with your family in vacation, usually we make our family photo with the background of the place we were visiting. Make them in line, look at the camera and say cheese….

What about make a little experience while train your self to capture better? We can use panning to make our vacation photo looks dramatic. You may use the opportunity when the child sliding down.

He he he you can get them as like as the motogp rider photo…please try it

Sometime your mobile phone is very usefull

What do you do if you see a nice scene and want to capture it, but , you just leaved your camera in somewhere..
I have met this condition more than once. In this condition, I will use my second camera, my mobile phone!
This are my experiences sharing while using camera phone:
- Even the pixel is same with your camera, but remember the sensor is smaller than then camera have. So, the noise is higher than your camera file.
- Treat your camera phone such as you use point-and-shot camera in automatic mode, so your power only arrange the composition of picture. Let’s the phone control the metering and focusing without zooming.
I share my photo that take it in a bay, in the morning that give a better lighting than we take it in noon.

So, you can not loose any moment that you want to share to others…

Sometime, the Unplanned Moment Come

I just come in the office when it was unplanned moment come. The bajaj was burned abruptly in the front of office. In seconds, I was shocked and there is no idea that I can do. Help bajaj is useless cause the fire is very big. Then I remember my camera, took it and make some shoots. It is very lucky that the battery is good and the memory have space.
After I view the picture, I got the wonderful moment, the burning bajaj was framed with others bajaj and give some ironic scene…
It is very good if your camera is ready any time cause sometime the moment come without your plan before…
(the next question is how the bajaj driver continue his life?)

RAW format in Prosumer Camera

In this link we can read that Canon have add the RAW format for their prosumer camera. Actually, is not a big issue for Canon user. It is long time that we can get a customize firmware for Canon digital camera so we can get additional features.
In common pocket and prosumer, we can not see battery status and also get RAW format. But, by insert the CHDK firmware, which build by some people and share it freely, we can get those feature. If you wanna know CHDK, please go this website.
As I know, this the safe program and some people said, Canon officially accept this modification.
Finally, I have the CHDK file for S5iS and the uploader, so just wait for the right time to try it and explore the RAW format.

A Lucky Time when Visit “Monas”..

Why I call it is a lucky time. If we want to make a outdoor photo, one thing that make our picture become interesting is the sky condition. If the sky is dull, covered with grey cloud, our picture will be flat. Otherwise, we will get an interesting picture. But, we can not control the sky 100% as we want (except we use a panaromal help for this).
So, when I make the National Monumen, I am so happy when I found the sky is very beautiful. Even I do not use CLR filter, I still get the sky clearly and the shape obviously look. This condition can not be found everytime especially in this rain season here.

I use a big number of f stop to get wide DOF and to limited the light in the sunny afternoon. Then in my software, I adjust the leveling of the photo to get approriate brightness.

Why I choose Canon S5iS

It is about fall season in 2007, when I have budget to buy camera digital. It is just like the dream come true. So, I try to browse any site that make review on camera. But, before I search, try to ask and read about the guidance to buy first camera. I found some clues, such as:

What the purpose of the camera, as a hobby or professional or combination.
If you want to make documentation of family, a video it is thing you can consider, cause sometime your kid expression can not be captured by still camera.
Consider the budget that you plan. Maybe you have to add your budget as long as you get the best camera.

So, I make some criteria:

Suit to my limited budget.
Have manual setting cause I like to make experiment
Suit to make video cause I will use as my family gadget
Long zoom is preferable
And of course a good quality

So, at that time I focus to some brand and type, cause the budget I skip the SLR. The price is higher than my budget. So, I compare the prosumer model and pocket model, but with the gap price is small enough, I think the prosumer have more advantange and give more flexibility to explore.

Then I go to www.dpreview.com, I found the Canon S5iS as the best prosumer camera for me. One advantage of this camera is it have a hot shoe (even until now, I do not buy external flash) but it is very helpful someday.

Now, I use this camera to capture all thing that interesthing for me…

Hopefully you can choose your first camera well, so you do not waste the time and your money
